As white as it comes,
as wet as it gets,
and as yellow as it beams,
you're pigment-protected.
You're black for many reasons untold.
Like a nonseasonal flower that will never fold,
left to wither in this life so cold,
you still walk the winter & summer bold.
How far we have come,
from Negroes to people of color.
How further we still have to go.
They say February is black,
we say the future is blackening.
